Kevin Celestin

Kevin was born and raised on the island of St. Lucia, which is located in the Caribbean. He was raised Catholic, and at the age of 16 explored the religion of Ratafarianism. In the summer of 2000 he surrendered his life to Jesus. He repented of his sins and trusted in the work of Jesus Christ on his behalf. In 2001 he began attending Nicholls State University. There he was discipled by the campus minister, Tim Lafleur. He also met his beautiful wife, Beth, at Nicholls. They got married in 2006 and have three amazing boys–Silas, Liam and Ezra. His passions are preaching, spending time with his family, playing golf, and reading.

Brian grew up in the small town of Cut Off, LA. God has blessed him with an amazing wife, Katelyn, who he get the blessing of living out the gospel with. The Lord has given him a great love for His Church and has called him to serve His Church. Ever since God called him and put the desire to serve His people on his heart, it has been an amazing journey. He played college golf at Nicholls State University. Attending Nicholls State was where the Lord called him to FBC Thibodaux. He immediately fell in love with Thibodaux. He is currently attending New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary to receive his Masters Degree. his desire is to live out and see others live out Philippians 1:27, “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind, striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.”

Worship/Arts Minister

Born and raised in southern Louisiana, Gerard grew up in a Catholic home. He went to church his entire life, but never had a relationship with God until he was 14 years old. That’s when he surrendered his life to Him. Since then he has done his best to follow where God leads him to go in every aspect of my life. God has sent him a beautiful wife by the name of Jessica Lavergne (formerly Frickey) and has blessed them with 2 amazing years together. They both serve in the music ministry here at First Baptist and are passionate about leading others in worship. Gerard has been in ministry for 8 years of his life and 6 of those have been on staff here at FBC Thibodaux as the Worship/Arts Minister. God has shown him a lot over the years serving here and learning in the music program at NOBTS. His goal at FBC Thibodaux is to faithfully combine God’s word with excellent music to help us express our deepest desires to God. His wish for anyone who comes or would come to FBC Thibodaux is that they would be able to worship God in spirit and in truth thus desiring Him more through their worship.

Michael Beloso

Youth Intern

Michael was born and raised in St Bernard Parish just east of New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina relocated his family and him to Pearl River, LA. Michael grew up as some would refer to it as a “Cultural Catholic.” He went throughout grade school never hearing the gospel of grace. After dealing with difficulty and an identity crisis in college, God intervened in his life. By God’s grace, Michael was saved June 26, 2015. Prior to coming to Christ, he played baseball at Mississippi Delta Community College. After coming to the Lord, he began just learning and serving at First Baptist Church of Pearl River. Through the life-on-life relationships of some dear brothers, God opened a door for Michael to attend Leavell College at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, where he currently attends and met his wife Drue at. By God’s grace, he hopes to serve and equip the body of Christ to do the work of the ministry. Romans 16:25-7
Robyn Williams

Robyn Williams

On December 24, 1984, Robyn gave her life to Christ, joined the church, and was baptized. Her life was forever changed as she began a new life in Christ. She was unaware at the time that God was preparing her through her banking position as a Bookkeeping Supervisor to fill the secretarial / financial position here at FBC. She resigned from her banking job of 15 years through the leading of the Holy Spirit. A few years later, in March 1999, she was called to work here at FBC. She counts it a privilege and a blessing from God to serve Him and His people here in this ministry using the gifts He has given her. To God be the glory as He continues to equip her for His service. She enjoys fishing, camping, working out and spending quality time with her family.

Jessica Lavergne

Jessica has been a disciple of Christ since May 2014. She loves the Lord, enjoys serving him and using the gifts and talents he gave her to serve Him and His church. Jessica has a 4-year degree from Nicholls State University in Education. She enjoys teaching children, not only in music but also in biblical studies and doctrine. Her passion is to see children grow up and know the Lord. She desires to see kids learn who Jesus is, what He did for them, and for them to love and serve Him! She is married to Gerard Lavergne and they together serve in the Music Ministry together.

Paulette Mayon

Paulette Mayon

Paulette is originally from Morgan City, Louisiana, but has been in Thibodaux since she graduated from high school and began attending Nicholls State University. She grew up in a Baptist church and was saved as a teenager after Youth Camp in eighth grade. After college, she married her husband, Jimmy Mayon and they chose to settle in Thibodaux. They have two children, Haley (22) and Nicholas (20) who are both in college. She works as an Audit Manager with a local CPA firm. They attended and served in a local sister Baptist church for 14 years before God called them to serve at FBC Thibodaux in 2013.  She was involved in the AWANA ministry at her former church and God placed it on her heart to serve the children of FBC Thibodaux by serving as the Commander for the AWANA program.

Jeremiah, Abigail & Lisa

Together, Jeremiah, Abigail, and Lisa make up the Nursery Leadership Team here at FBC in Thibodaux. Their mission is to care for children ages 0-2 by empowering parents to participate in Sunday school and church service so that in turn, they may continue to disciple their children at home. They have been serving in nursery for over a year now. Being young parents themselves, they strive to provide a nurturing environment, giving every child personalized attention. All of their helpers have completed background checks and must be certified through an online child safety training course. During Sunday school, they are teaching the children about God’s love through John Piper’s Desiring God curriculum. Their favorite activities during service include: singing, praying, reading stories, puzzles, coloring and more. In their down time they love to plan play-dates as well as “kid-free” coffee dates with friends. Their other areas of church involvement include the Building and Grounds Team, Video Announcements, and Discipleship Pathway. Together, they are dedicated to the social, emotional, and spiritual development of their children. They feel very blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the FBC Nursery.
Luke Woerner

Luke Woerner

Luke is originally from Baton Rouge, LA but moved to Thibodaux with his wife in 2012. He has been married to his wife, Stephanie, since 2012. He currently works as the Director of Safety for consulting firm in the area. He and his wife and have one daughter, Rosalie. He was in high school when God made known to his heart the riches of His Kingdom and he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. God has given him a passion to teach and preach His Word. In that passion Luke has found great satisfaction in helping to equip God’s people through Sunday School. He loves that in his Sunday School ministry everyone comes from different backgrounds and walks of life but the truth of the Bible is the same for everyone.
Stephanie Woerner

Stephanie Woerner

Stephanie is originally from Mobile, AL, but as a teenager, her family moved to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Texas, and then finally Louisiana. It was in high school that the Lord drew her to Himself and saved her. God has blessed her with a wonderful husband, Luke. God brought her to Thibodaux through her husband’s job in 2012 and they joined FBC Thibodaux shortly after. She is a stay-at-home mom to her sweet daughter Rosalie and she does some part-time work as a dental hygienist from time to time. God has placed the desire on her heart for women’s ministry in the local church. He has cultived within her the desire to see women grow in Him through fellowship, the study of His word, and prayer.
Jerry Rivet

Jerry Rivet

Jerry is from Thibodaux, married his high school sweetheart, Mandie, in 2000, and they now have 3 wonderful children; Cass, Neily and Adeline. He was saved in 2006 at the age of 29 and is extremely grateful for Steven Scrivner and Kevin Celestin being concerned enough about his life as a believer to pour all they knew into him. It has given Jerry a great passion for discipleship and building spiritual relationships that will last for eternity. He believes the more we encourage and aid each other to love and serve Christ and His church the more He receives the glory, honor and praise that He so greatly deserves because “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him!” (Piper)

Jerry and Barbara have been members of FBC Thibodaux for 35 years. Jerry has been a Deacon for the last 16 years. Together they lead an adult Sunday School Class. They are the Team leaders for the Fellowship Team and servants of the Lord. They enjoy camping, playing tennis and spending time with our family.
