Ministries
Leader: Lisa Cortez
Lisa’s mission is to care for children ages 0-2 by empowering parents to participate in Sunday school and church service so that in turn, they may continue to disciple their children at home. She has been serving in nursery for over a year now. Being a young mother herself, she strives to provide a nurturing environment, giving every child personalized attention. All of her helpers have completed background checks and must be certified through an online child safety training course. During Sunday school, they are teaching the children about God’s love through John Piper’s Desiring God curriculum. Their favorite activities during service include: singing, praying, reading stories, puzzles, coloring and more. In her down time she loves to plan play-dates as well as “kid-free” coffee dates with friends. Her other areas of church involvement include the Building and Grounds Team, Video Announcements, and Discipleship Pathway. She feels very blessed to be a part of what God is doing in the FBC Nursery.
Leader: Paulette Mayon
Paulette is originally from Morgan City, Louisiana, but has been in Thibodaux since she graduated from high school and began attending Nicholls State University. She grew up in a Baptist church and was saved as a teenager after Youth Camp in eighth grade. After college, she married her husband, Jimmy Mayon and they chose to settle in Thibodaux. They have two children, Haley (22) and Nicholas (20) who are both in college. She works as an Audit Manager with a local CPA firm. They attended and served in a local sister Baptist church for 14 years before God called them to serve at FBC Thibodaux in 2013. She was involved in the AWANA ministry at her former church and God placed it on her heart to serve the children of FBC Thibodaux by serving as the Commander for the AWANA program.

Leader: Tony Ledet
Tony was born and raised in Pointe-Aux-Chenes, Louisiana. On New Year’s Eve 2006, he married his high school sweetheart, Lauren, and they now have 5 children (yes! You read that right!)— Abram, Ephraim, Adelaide, Chaim, and Eliza. Tony grew up attending a variety of churches and denominations, but it wasn’t until he was a teenager that he began to understand partly the beauty of the Gospel and would take several more years for him to truly embrace the glorious Gospel and repent of his sins. God worked within him a love for His Word and a desire to teach and preach it to others. He has served as a youth minister in 2 local churches before joining here at FBC Thibodaux where he now serves as our Sunday School leader. His desire is to help equip our teachers to be able to study and teach in a way that will bring glory to God. He also desires to see those who attend Sunday School learn how to study God’s Word through the faithful exposition of it in Sunday School. As a result, his hope is that lives will be changed as boys and girls and men and women are exposed to the beauty of Scripture and its relevance in their lives.
Teaching Men to be Satisfied in Christ”
Leader: Jerry Rivet
Jerry is from Thibodaux, married his high school sweetheart, Mandie, in 2000, and they now have 3 wonderful children; Cass, Neily and Adeline. He was saved in 2006 at the age of 29 and is extremely grateful for Steven Scrivner and Kevin Celestin being concerned enough about his life as a believer to pour all they knew into him. It has given Jerry a great passion for discipleship and building spiritual relationships that will last for eternity. He believes the more we encourage and aid each other to love and serve Christ and His church the more He receives the glory, honor and praise that He so greatly deserves because “God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him!” (Piper)
